At its meeting on November 22, 2019, CMTBC’s Board approved a new three-year strategic plan for 2020-2022.
The strategic planning process began in early 2019, and involved both the Board and CMTBC’s senior staff team. All involved saw the creation of a new plan as an opportunity to reflect CMTBC’s understanding of the heightened public expectations placed on regulators, especially in light of the findings of the Cayton Report (PDF), released in April.
The Board and staff will begin the work of operational implementation early in the new year. CMTBC sees the new strategic plan as, among other things, a document that will guide any transition to a new regulatory structure, given the BC Government’s announcement on November 27, 2019 proposing a future amalgamation of CMTBC (and several other colleges) into a new College of Health and Care Professions of BC.
The new plan expresses the Board’s continuing commitment as a governance body to regulate in the public interest, and the staff’s commitment to operationalizing the plan, as we transition to the new and modernized framework for professional regulation in BC.
