Changes to Cycle 12 and a new option for continuing education activities

Two changes will be introduced to CMTBC’s Quality Assurance program to address challenges faced by RMTs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Extension of most continuing education requirements by one year

An extension to Cycle 12 will be made as follows:

  • The deadline to earn continuing education credits (CECs) by completing activities approved for Cycle 12 has been extended from October 31, 2020 to October 31, 2021.
  • The Boundaries and Consent online course (required for all RMTs) must still be completed by October 31, 2020. CMTBC is presently exploring deferral and other options for the course cost. Any final decision will take into consideration those RMTs who have already paid for and/or completed the online course, and any changes will be applied fairly to all registrants.

New category of continuing education activities

  • CMTBC’s Quality Assurance Committee has approved Webinar-PE (practical education) as a new category. Course approval criteria for the new Webinar-PE category are being finalized at this time. Details and an approval form will be available as soon as they are ready. CMTBC will consider existing PE courses as well as new PE courses for the Webinar-PE format – we request your patience while the approval criteria are finalized.
  • Both in-person Practical Education (PE) courses and Webinar-PE (practical education delivered via webinar in real-time) options will be available until the end of the extension of Cycle 12, namely, October 31, 2021.

RMTs and course providers are asked to be patient and to allow CMTBC to finalize the details. Further information will be provided as soon as possible.
