What are my continuing education requirements for Cycle 12?

On April 7, 2020, CMTBC published a news story announcing that:

  • The deadline to earn continuing education credits (CECs) by completing activities approved for Cycle 12 has been extended from October 31, 2020 to October 31, 2021.
  • The Boundaries and Consent online course (required for all RMTs) must still be completed by October 31, 2020.

These requirements are still in effect.

The Boundaries and Consent course was subsequently made free for all RMTs thanks to a joint funding agreement between CMTBC and the Registered Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia (RMTBC).

Under CMTBC’s Bylaws, RMTs who first became registered on or after November 1, 2019 are exempt from the requirement to earn CECs for Cycle 12. However, they are nonetheless strongly encouraged to take the Boundaries and Consent course, especially as it can now be done without cost.

The easiest way for an RMT to confirm their individual requirement is to log on to their registrant portal and check the “Continuing Education (CE) progress summary” from the left-hand menu bar. Remember, completion of CE requirements is a precondition to being able to renew registration for 2021.

Information about the next CE cycle will be announced in early 2021.
