The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) regulates the profession of massage therapy in BC. The College acts on behalf of the public to ensure that registered massage therapists (RMTs) in BC deliver safe, ethical and effective treatment.

FOMTRAC launches website and video

The Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FOMTRAC) recently launched its website. The site provides information about FOMTRAC’s role as the national organization for massage therapy regulators in Canada. FOMTRAC members include CMTBC, College of Massage Therapists of New Brunswick, College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador, and College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

FOMTRAC has also produced a video that explains the entry-to-practice competencies for registered massage therapists. The video provides detailed information on how the Inter-jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry-to-Practice (PCs/PIs) document (PDF) is used to help assess applicants’ readiness for practice. The video release complements the work of the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA) on establishing a national accreditation process for massage therapy education programs.

FOMTRAC is completing a project to refine and update the PCs/PIs document. RMTs and massage therapy educators in the regulated provinces have contributed to validation surveys as part of the project. Read more about the project on the FOMTRAC website.
