In the 2021 CMTBC Board election that will open January 31, 2021, five RMT candidates are running for three impending vacant Board positions. The positions carry a two-year term, from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2023. Candidates’ names, photographs, and statements have been posted on the 2021 Board Election page.
Board members are the directors of the College, providing policy governance and oversight in support of the College’s public protection mandate. See Board Roles & Responsibilities.
As in 2020, the 2021 Board election will be conducted online by Simply Voting Inc., a provider of hosted online elections for regulators, associations, and other non-profit organizations. Individual ballots are 100% confidential, and CMTBC receives voting results in final tabulated and aggregated form only. Eligible RMTs will receive an email on January 31, 2021 from Simply Voting with voting instructions and a link to the voting website. Ballots must be cast by February 28, 2021.
The upcoming Board term is likely to prove particularly interesting, given the BC Government’s announcement in August 2020 of recommendations for modernizing the province’s health professions regulatory system. However, for as long as regulation continues in its present form, the Board will oversee the strategic governance of CMTBC, which promotes ethical and competent practice and ensures that BC RMTs put the safety and best interest of patients first at all times.
