CMTBC has developed a new online course – which is now open to all RMTs – on the revised Code of Ethics and new Practice Environment Standard. The College has also released important information about quality assurance requirements for Cycle 12 and Cycle 13, including lists of approved continuing education (CE) activities for both cycles.
As an accommodation for challenges caused by COVID-19 restrictions, CMTBC adjusted the deadline to complete Cycle 12 CE activities to October 31, 2021. Cycle 12 and Cycle 13, which runs November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2022, overlap. Having the two quality assurance cycles overlap created technological complexities that CMTBC addressed before being able to release updated information on requirements for both cycles.
Online course: Code of Ethics & Practice Environment Standard
Through many examples drawn from clinical practice, the course explores in detail:
The revised Code of Ethics and new practice environment standard are key resources that support both the public and RMTs. For this reason, completion of the course is set as a short-term requirement. All RMTs – Practising and Non-Practising – are required to complete the Code of Ethics & Practice Environment Standard course by October 31, 2021 as a requirement for 2022 registration renewal. After successful completion of the course, RMTs will receive 10 credits toward the total credits required for Cycle 13.
For information, including how to enroll, technology recommendations, and references and resources, see the CMTBC Online Courses page.
Cycle 12 & Cycle 13
There are currently two overlapping cycles for RMTs to report CECs from approved continuing education (CE) activities:
While Cycle 13 is the current cycle, as an accommodation for challenges caused by COVID-19 restrictions, CMTBC adjusted the deadline to complete Cycle 12 CE activities to October 31, 2021. The deadline to complete Cycle 13 CE activities is October 31, 2022.
RMTs are advised to become familiar with the requirements for both cycles by reading all of the updated pages in the Quality Assurance section of the CMTBC website:
RMTs or CE providers who wish to submit an application for approval of continuing education activities not listed on the Cycle 12 or Cycle 13 Approved Continuing Education Activities lists should view the following pages:
