In October 2016, CMTBC announced that the College was looking at new software to replace the current database and online portal used for registration renewal, fee payments, reporting of continuing education credits, contact information updates, and a variety of other tasks. This process was initiated to respond to the concerns expressed by RMTs that the College’s current software could be difficult to work with, especially with mobile devices and Apple products.
Following an intensive search process that involved several months of research, careful definition of requirements, intensive demonstrations, hands-on testing, and gathering of information and references from other regulators, CMTBC is pleased to announce that the College has reached an agreement with Thentia Global for the development of CMTBC’s new registrant and applicant database system and online portal.
Thentia’s software is a powerful, state-of-the-art regulatory platform used across Canada by professional regulators, and also by chartered banks and financial service companies, who use the system to keep track of thousands of regulated professionals. CMTBC’s requirements for the new software included a strong emphasis on responsiveness, ease-of-use, and platform independence, meaning that the software is designed to work well with any device or operating system that people are likely to use with it.
In contrast to the College’s current software, the new software will be licenced from, and entirely implemented and supported by, a single Canadian provider. This will enable faster and more efficient communication and response to maintenance and upgrade issues.
Implementation of the new software will occur over the upcoming months. CMTBC’s goal is to have the new software in place before registration renewal opens for 2018.
