On February 16, 2017, the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) received a report advising that then-registered massage therapist Bodhi Jones had been arrested by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) at the clinic where he was practicing.

CMTBC responded by immediately seeking additional information from the VPD, and by launching its own investigation into Mr. Jones on February 17, 2017.

CMTBC notified Mr. Jones of its investigation on February 20, 2017.  The next day – February 21, 2017 – Mr. Jones resigned his registration with CMTBC.  Mr. Jones has not been an RMT in British Columbia since February 21, 2017.

CMTBC will actively monitor any criminal court proceedings that may be brought against Mr. Jones, and will decide on the appropriate application of its regulatory process once court proceedings have been concluded.

CMTBC regulates approximately 4,500 RMTs in British Columbia. Constituted under BC’s Health Professions Act, the CMTBC establishes and enforces standards of professional conduct and competence, with the aim of supporting the public’s right to safe and effective health care.
