In 2023, there is no requirement for RMTs to complete either self-directed courses for continuing education credits (CECs) or a CMTBC-authored online course to renew registration for 2024. Registration renewal for 2024 will open on November 1, 2023.
RMTs must, however, meet the following registration renewal requirements, in accordance with CMTBC Bylaws:
Although there is no requirement to complete courses this year, RMTs are encouraged to continue to engage in any professional development course or activity that will support their practice. RMTs are individually responsible for ensuring that any modality or skills-based training they wish to complete is within the scope of practice for massage therapy in BC, if they plan to incorporate that learning into their practice.
As mentioned in the news story sent in a newsletter to all RMTs on April 20, 2023, CMTBC has redesigned the Quality Assurance (QA) program, moving away from the QA model that required RMTs to report CECs in the Registrant Portal by taking approved activities offered by external courses providers.
