RMTs invited to participate in BC government allied health survey

On June 22, 2021, CMTBC – along with a number of other health regulatory colleges and public bodies – received a request from the Ministry of Health to distribute a survey for all allied health professionals in BC.

As part of the BC Allied Health Provincial Consultation process led by the Allied Health Policy Secretariat, the Ministry of Health developed the anonymous online survey to collect allied health data in seven key areas of focus:

  • identity and recognition,
  • workforce and practice optimization,
  • leadership,
  • education and training,
  • recruitment,
  • retention, and
  • partnerships and collaboration.

All allied health professionals in BC are eligible to participate in the survey that will run from June 22 to July 13, 2021. Take the Allied Health Provincial Consultation survey

The definition of “allied health” employed by the Allied Health Policy Secretariat appears to be a broad one that extends beyond current regulatory categories. As a result, RMTs are among the groups invited to participate.

The Ministry’s hope is that the survey results will provide insight on the current state of allied health in BC, from the perspective of allied health professionals, related to the seven areas of focus. Data collected via the online survey and focus groups will be aggregated and incorporated into a report that will be developed and shared with key stakeholders later this summer/early fall to validate the initial findings. This will help to inform the Allied Health Policy Secretariat’s three-year strategic plan, which will set the direction of allied health in BC, including the vision of allied health practice, education, and role optimization to better support patients and achieve health system goals.

Please note that CMTBC does not have any additional information about how the survey results will be used, and therefore is not able to respond to questions about the survey.
