Nature of Action: Pursuant to section 35(1)(a) of the Health Professions Act (the “Act”), on March 9, 2016 the Inquiry Committee made an order restricting the registrant’s practice subject to certain conditions, including that the registrant be chaperoned during each visit with a female patient while the order remained in force and effect.

Reasons: The College received a complaint alleging that the registrant touched a female patient, a minor, in a non-therapeutic, sexual manner while providing massage therapy to her. The Committee was satisfied that the information available to it in March 2016 indicated that action was necessary to protect the public during the investigation. The Committee took the least severe interim action it considered necessary to address immediate public protection concerns.

The order ceased to be in effect on February 27, 2019.

Important Note: Limits, conditions and suspensions ordered by the Inquiry Committee under section 35(1) of the Act are made to protect the public during an investigation or pending a hearing of the Discipline Committee. Measures taken under section 35(1) of the Act pertain to matters which are and remain unproven unless admitted by a registrant or determined by the Discipline Committee. The allegations referred to in this notice have not been proven.
