Colette Swain, RMT

Location:
Kamloops, BC

Date of Action:
Nov 17, 2015

Nature of Action: An undertaking and consent of the registrant under section 33(6)(c) of the Health Professions Act (the “Act”) providing for a reprimand and limits and conditions on the registrant’s practice, including:

  • an undertaking to successfully complete a College-approved course on professionalism and ethics;
  • an undertaking to pay the College $1,500 in costs; and
  • an undertaking to pay to the College a fine in the amount of $1,500.

Reasons: The College received a complaint from a former male patient of the registrant (the “Complainant”), alleging that the registrant entered into a relationship with him while he was the registrant’s patient.

The registrant admitted to entering into a sexual and romantic relationship with the Complainant, who was her patient at the time. The registrant admitted to contravening section 75(a) of the College’s Bylaws and section 2(a) of the Code of Ethical Conduct, being Schedule “C” to the College’s Bylaws, by engaging in sexual conduct with the Complainant, a patient.
