Disciplinary Actions

Jeremy Jakobsze, RMT

Nature of Action: On November 3, 2021 the Registrar issued a citation to Jeremy Jakobsze, RMT, under section 37 of the Health Professions Act.

The citation states that the Discipline Committee will conduct a hearing to inquire into Mr. Jakobsze’s conduct and sets out the following allegations:

  1. Mr. Jakobsze had an altercation with a prospective patient (“AA”) on June 3, 2020, after which AA published an online review about the experience. Mr. Jakobsze responded by making statements about AA for which he had no legitimate professional purpose or justification, as follows:
    1. On June 4, 2020, he complained to AA’s regulatory body about her, alleging that she had engaged in “trespassing”, “negligence”, “theft”, “gender-based harassment”, and “professional misconduct” against him. He also alleged that AA had violated the Criminal Code.
    2. In July 2020, he contacted AA’s employer and stated that AA had mental health issues and that she may pose a risk to others.
    3. On October 20, 2020, he wrote to a representative of the Health Professions Review Board stating that AA had engaged in “hate speech”, had made “false allegations” against him, and that there was a “substantial cause for concern regarding [her] mental health.”
    4. He complained to the RCMP about AA, alleging that she had engaged in hate speech toward him.
  1. Between August 31, 2020 and December 10, 2020, following the initiation of an investigation by the Inquiry Committee of the College into Mr. Jakobsze’s interactions with AA, he communicated with College staff in an unprofessional manner, examples of which include the following:
    1. In an email dated August 31, 2020, he referred to a College Investigator as an “unprofessional investigator.”
    2. In an email dated November 4, 2020, he suggested that a College staff member had a “mental delay.”
    3. In an email dated November 5, 2020, he referred to the same staff member as having “sexist motives”; as having spread “slanderous garbage”; and as having “allow[ed] coercion and slander” to be carried out against him. He also suggested that the staff member had been “touched” as a child.
    4. In an email dated November 5, 2020 to a different College staff member, he suggested that the staff member was being an “accomplice” and stated, “get your head straight.”
    5. In an email dated November 20, 2020 to CMTBC external legal counsel, he referred to the CMTBC investigation process as a “kangaroo court” and suggested that CMTBC’s external legal counsel was a “criminal.”
    6. On December 10, 2020, while completing his 2021 registration renewal declaration with the College, he stated that College staff and the Inquiry Committee had engaged in “abuse of power” and “hate crimes.”

The citation alleges that Mr. Jakobsze committed professional misconduct, or alternatively unprofessional conduct, by engaging in the behaviour outlined in paragraphs 1 and 2, above. In addition, the citation alleges that Mr. Jakobsze’s conduct violated sections 27, 28, 29 and 32 of the CMTBC Code of Ethics (as in effect at that time).

Hearing Date: The hearing will be heard on the following dates: December 12 to 16, 2022, commencing at 9:30 am each day.
