Nature of Action: On August 5, 2020, the Registrar issued a citation to Leonard Krekic under section 37 of the Health Professions Act. Mr. Krekic is currently a former registrant of CMTBC.
The citation notifies Mr. Krekic that the Discipline Committee will conduct a hearing to inquire into his conduct as follows:
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient A.A.,
- In or about 2012, he:
- Engaged in inappropriate and unprofessional conduct by hugging her;
- Made statements and/or inquiries of an unprofessional, inappropriate and/or personal nature including asking her if he could pray for her and/or praying for her in her presence [note: particulars omitted];
- Placed his hand(s) under her undergarment or otherwise moved her undergarment without her consent;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her mons pubis and/or labia for a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose; and/or
- In or about November 2012, inserted his finger(s) into her anus for a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose;
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient B.B.,
- On or about March 20, 2014, he:
- Made comments and/or statements of an unprofessional, inappropriate and/or personal nature by sharing overly personal details about his life [note: particulars omitted]; and/or
- Massaged or otherwise touched her mons pubis for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- On or about March 28, 2014, he:
- Made comments and/or statements of an unprofessional, inappropriate and/or personal nature;
- Placed his hand(s) under her undergarment or otherwise moved her undergarment without her consent;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her mons pubis and/or labia for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose; and/or
- For a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose, he;
- Directed her to the edge of the massage table and to spread her legs open;
- When she did so, he placed himself between her legs and had her straddle him, facing him and while he was seated; and/or
- In this position, he pressed his groin into her groin;
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient C.C.,
- Between about 2009 and 2014, he massaged or otherwise touched her mons pubis and/or labia for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose; and/or
- On or about November 10, 2016, he pressed his groin against her hand;
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient D.D.,
- On or about February 8, 2019, he:
- Failed to provide appropriate disrobing options and/or appropriately drape her and caused her to sign a consent form while she was undressed and prone which exposed her breasts; and/or
- Pressed his groin against her hand for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- On or about February 15, 2019, he:
- Failed to appropriately drape her and exposed her buttocks without her consent;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her groin area without her consent;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her labia for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose; and/or
- Pressed his groin against her hand for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient E.E.,
- On or about February 15, 2019, he pressed his groin against her hand for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose; and/or
- On or about March 12, 2019, he placed his hands underneath her undergarment and massaged her breasts for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- In the course of providing massage therapy services to patient F.F.,
- On or about March 14, 21 and 28, 2019, he:
- Pressed his groin into her hand for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her mons pubis and/or labia for a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her groin area for a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose,
- Made statements and/or inquiries of an unprofessional, inappropriate and/or personal nature [note: particulars omitted]; and/or
- Engaged in inappropriate and unprofessional conduct by hugging her;
- Between about April 4, 2019 and September 2019 he:
- Made statements of an unprofessional, inappropriate and/or personal nature by praying for his chaperone during her treatment;
- For a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose he:
- Directed her to the edge of the massage table and to spread her legs open;
- When she did so, he placed himself between her legs and rested his elbows on her knees and his head near her groin; and/or
- In this position, their upper bodies came into contact;
- Massaged or otherwise touched her gluteal cleft and/or perineum for a non-therapeutic and/or sexual purpose; and/or
- On or about October 2 and 10, 2019 he pressed his groin against her hand for a non-therapeutic or sexual purpose;
- From about August 23, 2019 through November 21, 2019 he entered into a close personal relationship and engaged in inappropriate and unprofessional communications with patient F.F. [note: particulars omitted].
- He breached the Order made April 5, 2019 pursuant to section 35 of the Act by:
- Failing to inform CMTBC immediately of any new locations where he was providing massage therapy services;
- During the months of July and August 2019, failing to provide reports each week with each patient he consulted, assessed, examined or treated and the name of the person who acted as a chaperone for each of those patients;
- During an appointment in late July or early August 2019, failing to have a chaperone present at all times during the consultation, assessment, examination or treatment of a female patients; and/or
- Failing to ensure that at the completion of any consultation, assessment, examination or treatment of a patient that the chaperone records their full name, signature and date in the corresponding patient chart entry;
- He failed to provide treatment records for three female patients in response to the CMTBC’s June 14, 2019 request within a reasonable time period and did not do so until September 5, 2019; and
- He practiced massage therapy without liability insurance between November 1 and 16, 2019.
It is alleged that by engaging in this alleged conduct, Mr. Krekic:
- has not complied with the Health Professions Act or a bylaw;
- has not complied with a standard imposed under the Health Professions Act, that is CMTBC’s Code of Ethics and/or standards of practice; and further, or in the alternative;
- has committed professional misconduct or unprofessional conduct.

Hearing Dates and Location: The hearing was held virtually on the following dates: March 8-12, 15-19, and 22-23, April 26-30, September 29 and 30, and October 1, 28 and 29, 2021.
