Nature of Action: The registrant voluntarily entered into a consent and undertaking agreement with the Inquiry Committee of the College, as part of which she agreed to undertakings involving regular monitoring for fitness to practice massage therapy. This monitoring is a condition on the registrant’s practice of massage therapy.
Reasons: A concern about the registrant’s fitness to practice was reported to the College. The registrant voluntarily removed herself from massage therapy practice upon request by the College at that time. During the investigation the registrant submitted to an independent medical assessment which documented health concerns which could impact the registrant’s ability to provide safe patient care.
The registrant subsequently complied with treatment recommendations and submitted to an independent medical re-assessment which identified that the registrant is now fit to return to the practice of massage therapy provided that she complies with ongoing monitoring requirements.
Note: The name of the registrant has been withheld in accordance with section 39.3(4)(a) of the Health Professions Act for the purposes of not identifying the personal health information of the registrant. The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the terms of the undertaking and consent agreement will protect patient safety.
